17th Annual 24 Hours of Allamuchy August 27-28-29, 2010
The 2010 Race Is Cancelled
BREAKING NEWS (July 5, 2010): It was a difficult and painful decision, but the 17th annual 24 Hours of Allamuchy Endurance Mountain Bike Race has been cancelled. After much discussion, the decision was made jointly by former race directors, Dan Brannen & Paul Hess, in conjunction with the current event directors, the Patriot's Path Council of the Boy Scouts of America. Entries had dropped by 50% from 2007 to 2009, and as of this year's July 1 entry fee increase deadline, they were down another 80% from 2009 to 2010. With numbers like that, no matter how much we tried to cut costs, the event is simply no longer financially feasible.
The Patriot's Path Council of the Boy Scouts of America is considering some type of low-key alternative event this summer, possibly on the originally-scheduled race weekend (Aug. 27-28-29), or possibly at a later date. If any decision is made in this regard, the information will be posted here.
